Learning and Discovery at Pearl.
The Pearl Program
Each day is designed to nurture curiosity, independence and connection.
Children explore, question and discover in a calm environment where they feel safe to follow their interests and build confidence in their abilities.
Guided by experienced educators, children engage in meaningful activities that support their social, emotional and intellectual development.
A Calm and Purposeful Day
Each day at Pearl follows a gentle rhythm that allows children the time and space to focus, explore and build independence.
Children experience extended work periods where they choose activities that interest them and concentrate deeply on their learning.
Throughout the day children also enjoy outdoor play, shared meals and moments of connection with their peers and educators.
How Children Learn at Pearl
All age groups of children engage in a wide range of experiences that support their development across many areas of learning.
Areas of Learning

Practical Life
Independence grows through everyday activities such as preparing food, caring for plants and animals, cleaning, organising and helping others.

Language
Conversation, storytelling and early literacy materials support vocabulary development, communication skills and confidence with language.

Mathematics
Hands-on materials introduce numbers, patterns and early mathematical thinking in ways that feel natural and engaging.

Jewish Life
Jewish songs, blessings, festivals and stories are shared throughout the year in ways that are sensory, joyful and inclusive.

Nature and Discovery
Children explore the natural world, developing curiosity about their environment and respect for the world around them.

Arts
Creative expression is encouraged through art, music, stories and movement, supporting imagination, concentration and coordination.
Age Groups
Our program is designed around age-based groups that reflect each child’s stage of development.
Each group follows a rhythm suited to their age and developmental needs. While the structure evolves as children grow, the environment remains calm and consistent, giving children the confidence to explore and learn.
Possums & Koalas
1-3 YEARS
In the early years, the focus is developing independence, movement and language. Children build confidence through everyday activities, sensory exploration and early social interaction. A gentle daily rhythm supports curiosity and joyful discovery.
Wallabies
3-5 YEARS
As children grow, the learning environment expands to support deeper exploration and concentration. Children engage with language, mathematics, science and cultural learning through hands-on materials, while balancing individual work, collaborative activities, creative expression and outdoor play. The focus is on fostering independence, problem-solving and a genuine love of learning.
Program Enrichments
Bringing the World Into the Classroom

Experiences include:

Cultural celebrations and seasonal traditions

Incursions from visiting educators and performers

Creative learning experiences in art and music

Movement programs such as Playball

Jewish traditions including Hebrew and Shabbat
These experiences complement the Montessori environment while keeping children’s curiosity and creativity at the centre of learning.
Culture and Community
Pearl celebrates Jewish culture and traditions as part of the rhythm of the year.
Children experience moments of connection through seasonal celebrations and shared traditions that bring families together.
Pearl warmly welcomes families of all backgrounds and celebrates diversity within our community. We honour First Nations cultures as central to the land we share and the future we are shaping together
